Tom Bonnell Contributions to Savannah Country Day School
As the Head of School at Savannah Country Day School, Tom Bonnell was able to put in place many measures that improved the overall management and administration of the school. Among his many contributions to Savannah Country Day School was the development of a collaborative faculty culture that focused on curricular coordination and research-based best practice. He was also able to develop a Long Range Plan for the school that was adopted by the School’s Board in February of 2007.
Working together with the school’s faculty and administration, Tom Bonnell created “Teaching and Learning at Savannah Country Day: A Vision for the Future” which serves as a vision for pedagogical excellence. Mr Bonnell also initiated a program called “Creative Minds” which invited different prominent individuals to offer lectures to the community with master classes for students. In order to promote the arts in his school, Tom Bonnell hired the school’s first drama teacher which raised the profile of the school’s arts programs.
Tom Bonnell joined Savannah Country Day School in July of 2004. Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Latin and Greek from Duke University where he graduated as Magna Cum Laude in 1979. Mr Bonnell received his Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985.
