After being a Program Manager – Eric Youn

Eric Youn has held several positions throughout his career. This includes positions such as youth mentor, program evaluator, program manager and home study specialist to name a few. Although these may seem unrelated at first, there is something in common with all of them. In all these jobs that Eric has held, he was able to help society.

Before all this, Eric Youn graduated with a degree in English at the University of Houston. From there, Mr Youn actively participated in different programs and projects with the goal of helping the youth in learning as well as live a normal and stable life. Eric was involved with The Bridge Youth and Family Services, American YouthWorks Charter School, The Arrow Project and Hawai’i Children’s Cancer Foundation among others.

Eric Youn has also done several research studies and presented them in various forums throughout the country. Some of his professional presentations are The American YouthWorks Latino Technology Curriculum, Using AmeriCorps Members in your Community Technology Center and The Service Learning Approach.

Through his dedication and passion, Eric Youn was given several awards and grants in his career like the Phi Alpha – Social Work Honor Society in the Spring of 2003 and the National Dean’s List Recipient – University of Texas at Arlington in 2002 – 03.

Eric Youn – Biography

Eric Youn was born in Princeton, New Jersey on the 26th of November 1968. Mr Youn moved from Texas to Honolulu, Hawaii and is currently a Professor at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa – School of Social Work. Eric Youn has a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas (1993) as well as a Masters of Science in Social Work Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington with Dual Concentration in Community Planning and Administrative Practice in Arlington, Texas.

In addition, Eric has a Doctorate of Philosophy in Social Work Degree at the University of Texas at Arlington (2007) with a dissertation entitled: “The Effectiveness of a Virtual Learning Environment on Student Learning about Clinical Skills.”

Eric Youn professional experience includes being a Youth Mentor at The Bridge Youth and Family Services, a Program Evaluator at the Texas Child Protective Services – NETCARE, a Home Study Specialist for The Arrow Project as well as being a Program Manager for the American YouthWorks Charter School. Additionally, Mr Youn has had numerous academic appointments as well as being actively involved in charitable causes in addition to receiving several grants and awards.

Moreover, Eric Youn has done a number of successful professional presentations and has two publications under his name. Eric is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Council on Social Work Education and the Society of Social Work Research.
