Gum disease is serious business. Its symptoms are usually subtle that you don’t even realize the damage that is being done literally right under your nose. Rather than feeling outright pain, you may experience gnawing, itching, or burning sensation. You may notice a little bleeding when you brush or floss your teeth. It may be annoying , but it certainly doesn’t seem like anything to worry about. The during a routine checkup, your dental hygienist informs you that your gums have receded so much that one of your teeth has become wobbly. Here are some tips that you can consider to adopt to restore your gum health by Dr. Medhat Dawoud

1. Stop Smoking

If the threat of lung cancer and heart disease has not persuaded you to can the cigs, then sore gums probably won’t do the trick either. Just know that smoking not on;y aggravates gum disease, it can cause it in the first place. There is such a thing as nicotine stomatitis. It is an inflammation of the soft tissue of the mouth that comes from nicotine irritation.

2. Avoid Aspirin

Your friends mean well when they tell you to put aspirin on your sore gums. But don’t listen to this old wives’ tale. Never put aspirin directly on your gums. Yes, it might provide some temporary relief. But aspirin is a highly caustic chemical, and it is irritating to the gum tissue. It could cause a fairly serious acid burn.

3. Be Gentle

While keeping your mouth cleanis critical, you will want to proceed gingerly when you have sore gums. Patients with gum problems tend to get more vigorous with their brushing. They think that they can brush the problem away. But they often end up inadvertently causing abrasions and ulcerations. Avoid aggressive brushing. Make sure that you use a soft toothbrush. Plaque is a soft material and can be removed better with a soft brush than a hard one.

4. Try tea bag

If your gums are bleeding, tea can make it stop. Just place a wet tea bag on the area that is bleeding. The tannic acid will help the blood clot.

5. Give Up Brushing Temporarily

If your gum tissue appears red or raw, it is recommended to forgo brushing that area for the time being so that it has a chance to heal. Brushing will irritate the gum even more. Instead of brushing, dip a cotton swap in 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and dab the sore spot. Hydrogen peroxide is a cleansing agent. If you use it for five to seven days, it will help clean the area and allow the gum to heal without toothbrush abrasion. You can brush the biting surface of the back teeth directly. Just make sure that the brush doesn’t touch the gum line.

6. Try Rinse

It is recommended to use a rinse with anti-plaque properties. It helps to reduce the amount of plaque mass in your mouth at any one time. Your best bet is a rinse that contains chlorhexidine. Since such products are only available by prescription, you should ask your dentist whether one would be right for you. Some over-the-counter rinses such as Listerine has been shown to be effective in preventing plaque buildup, but they don’t work as well as those with chlorhexidine.

7. Consume Carefully

If you have a sore or an ulcer on your gums, avoid eating anything that can irritate the tissue. Stay away from spicy and acidic foods and drinks. This includes tomato juice and even colas. They have pHs in the range of five, which is acidic. What about orange juice? Make sure you dilute it with water. This reduces the acidic concentration, so the juice won’t burn when you drink it.

Edwin Ogenio talks about marriage and divorce

Edwin Ogenio

With the emphasis on “for God has joined them together”, Edwin Ogenio believes that what God puts together in a covenant between Him and the man and woman, no one is able to separate.

God, in His love and mercy, wants to spare us from being trapped in a curse and stop what is hindering our spiritual progress in Him.On the other hand we also see that God does the unusual by allowing for instance Samson to marry a Philistine woman against his father and mother’s advice, because God had a purpose. A purpose, we many times don’t at first understand the full measure of. “His father and mother objected strenuously, “Isn’t there one woman in our tribe or among all the Israelites you could marry? Why must you go to the pagan Philistines to find a wife?” But Samson told his father, “Get her for me. She is the one I want.” His father and mother didn’t realize the LORD was at work in this, creating an opportunity to disrupt the Philistines, who ruled over Israel at that time.”
Judges 14:3-4 NLT

Another very unusual event

Edwin Ogenio

“…was when the Lord told the Prophet Hosea to marry a prostitute named Gomer and who would have children born by having sex with other men, for the purpose of illustrating the way the people of Israel had been untrue to God by openly committing adultery by worshipping other god’s. (Hosea 1:2). This was obviously an act against God’s own law (prohibiting the people of God to marry prostitutes and pagans), that says in Lev. 21:7 NLT: “The priests must not marry women defiled by prostitution or women who have been divorced, for the priests must be set apart to God as holy.” In the New Testament the Apostle Paul told the Corinthian church in 1. Cor. 7:15: “Should a man take his body, which belongs to Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never!”
As you can see, God asked the prophet Hosea to do a very difficult and extraordinary act, which took discernment from his side, since it seemed to contradict God’s own law. Nevertheless he was willing and obedient to do it.

You may remember when God replaced Queen Vashti with Esther. How could it be that God would allow this Hebrew woman to marry an ungodly Persian king? God had a plan to set up a defense against the coming slaughter of his people to so deliver them. He cleverly brought Esther to the palace to become His spokeswoman and mediator between her husband, King Xerxes and her people, the Jews. (See the Book of Esther.)

Mary was an unmarried woman and yet God impregnated her by the Holy Spirit, causing all sorts of confusion to her fiancé Joseph, the family and people around her, who suspected her of infidelity, and/or sex before marriage. Even so, Mary humbly believed and obeyed God’s calling, at the expense of her reputation; a seemingly crooked, controversial way for God to bring our Deliverer and Savior, Jesus Christ into this world. (See Luke 1)

All these stories come down to the fact that ultimately God can do anything with anybody, anywhere and anyhow for His intended purpose and Glory. That’s why it takes godly discernment to know what God is doing in individuals and that we should not be too quick to be opinionated and judge what could be the hand of God.

“We desperately need God’s help!” - says Edwin Ogenio.

Andrew Blaak, lawyer for everyone

 Andrew Blaak

Couples marry with the intention of staying with each other and being there with their spouse through thick and thin. However, as the saying goes, Man proposes and God disposes, and at times it may happen that the couple may decide to separate legally through a divorce. A divorce is one of the most unfortunate events that one may have to undergo in their life and this will bring about some major changes in their lives. Now, a divorce is something which is unforeseen and it is very difficult to stay prepared to face any unforeseen situation. However, there is something that can be done for this and that is, to sign a prenuptial agreement with your to-be spouse before the wedding. This is a pre-wedding arrangement signed by the couple, with the help of legal professionals that list how things will be done, if the couple decides to separate at later stage due to any reasons. You just have to make sure that everything is included in the prenuptial agreement, so that things do not get complicated if you decide to get a divorce after all.

Andrew Blaak, will help you draw up the agreement which you and your to-be spouse will have to sign, before your actual legal union. A prenuptial agreement is a document drawn and signed up, in the presence of authorized personnel where the couple decides the outlines on the basis of which; they would divide the financial aspects of their marriage, if they decide to get a divorce. Division of property and assets can become a major bone of contention in any divorce case and if there are children involved in this, the division becomes all the more tricky. The agreement will ensure that you are not cheated out of your rightful claim and also that of your children, and you do not have to suffer financially after the divorce.

You must be thinking that drawing up a prenuptial agreement is not for you but only couples who are not sure about their intentions and feelings for each other. If you are feeling so, you are wrong; this is just an agreement to safeguard your interests if at all, things do not work out. It is not to scrutinize the loyalty and integrity of the couple, but just a smart move that can save them lots of tensions and worries, later on. It may always happen that someone may wind up making a wrong choice, as far as choosing a life partner is concerned, so this is the only means through which you can safeguard against this.

Christopher Purtz - How to Stretch for Health

Christopher Purtz

By the time you finish reading this article I’m sure you will find time to stretch every day- Сhristopher Purtz .The lack of flexibility in people is now seen to be the major cause of general health problems and sports injury and is also being linked to everything from stress, back pain, and even osteoarthritis. It also means that nagging injuries, especially around your joints take longer to heal. The latest studies show that up to 60 percent of the general population with bad backs and knees have tight hamstrings and hips and the main cause of this is a lack of flexibility.
                     How to Stretch

Christopher Purtz

Cristopher Purtz advised:”Before stretching, dress in loose clothing and try and acquire a five-foot length of rope and tie a loop in the end. The purpose of this is to loop the end of rope around the exercising appendage to squeeze the last couple of inches of stretch from the exercise.”

Find a comfortable place to stretch either on your bed, a carpeted floor or on a mat. Isolate the muscle or group you want to stretch then contract the muscle opposite. This causes the isolated muscle or group to relax straight away and when it does it is ready to stretch.

Gently and quickly stretch the isolated muscle until it can’t be stretched any further; now give yourself a gentle pull with your hands or rope. Go as far as you can and then hold the stretch for no more than 2 seconds then release, do this for a total of 5 repetitions on the isolated muscle or group.

The reason for just a 2-second stretch is because when a muscle realizes that it is being forced into a stretch it contracts to protect itself from being overstretched. If you can beat this contraction you’ll be well on the way to a greater Range of Motion.

Remember to hold for no more than 2 seconds, release, return to the normal position and repeat for the five repetitions. Try not to have any hesitations between stretches and make it as fluid as possible.

Try to stretch every day if possible, remember to:

* Work one target muscle at a time.
* Contract the muscle that is opposite the targeted muscle, which
will relax in preparation of its stretch.
* Stretch it gently and quickly.
* Release it before it realizes that it has been stretched and goes
into its protective contraction.

Below are two exercises that can be done straight away even while you are at work to stretch that tension and stress from of your body.

* Lie down on the floor with your buttocks against a wall and your legs straight up the wall. Slowly flex your toes towards your knees, hold for two seconds and repeat five times. This will loosen up your lower back and stretch your hamstrings and hips giving instant relief for tired backs.

This exercise can be done while at the office anytime you start to feel that stress and tension building up.

* Sitting in a chair and putting one leg out straight, flex your toes towards your knee, now lean towards that foot, stretching your hands towards it and letting your head and shoulders follow, hold for two seconds and repeat five times. This will create a stretch right across your lower back and neck.

A flexible body is:

* More efficient
* More easily trained for strength and endurance
* Enjoys more range of motion
* Stays balanced more easily and is less prone to injury
* Recovers from workouts more quickly, and feels better.

Your goal? To start utilizing these exercises every day and say goodbye to your stress and tension.

Frank Scozzaro - Employee Volunteer Programs are Great for Business

Frank Scozzaro

Volunteerism is a great way for any size company to give back. Whether you are a solo entrepreneur or a large corporation, an employee volunteer program is a must for several reasons. The most important reason is it gives employees a stake in the company’s giving and it can even improve employee morale.

An employee volunteer program doesn’t have to be complex and time consuming. But, it should be leveraged against other assets for giving, which determines how you build this program. The employee volunteer program needs to also have the systems in place for it to be successful and effective. If you are thinking about establishing a company-wide employee volunteer program or if you are a solo entrepreneur and want to include time as a way to give back, here are 5 easy steps to create and employee volunteer program.- Frank Scozzaro

1. Align volunteer activities with the company giving mission. Volunteering should not be done on the fly or without consideration. Creating a branded giving program that sends out your message about what you care about is important. Take the time to select volunteer activities that closely align with your giving mission statement. Choosing activities that align with your giving mission generate the greatest benefits for the company, employees and the community.

2. Develop a volunteer program structure and policies. Written and communicated policies around volunteering keep the program focused and easy to manage. It lays the groundwork for what the company will do and how it will do it and when recognizing employees for the volunteer time, it keeps the process fair.

3. Leverage volunteer activities against other assets the company has to give. You need to know how much time you can afford to give back. Time is weighed against in-kind donations, cash contributions (including matching gift programs) and loaned expertise.

4. Communicate your volunteer efforts. Communicating your giving program generates enthusiasm within the company and good will within the community. The results and efforts of your volunteerism are linked to public relation and marketing efforts both internally and externally.

5. Reward engaged employees. Nothing speaks louder to employees than appreciation for what they do. Establishing a recognition program inspires others and is a great way to say ‘thank you’ for their contribution to the overall company giving program.

6. Measure and evaluate. You don’t know how successful your volunteer program is unless you take the time to evaluate it. Yes, volunteering is all good, but you this is the only way true success can be determined. Some of the areas to measure are employee satisfaction with the program and is it meeting your overall mission.

Mary Aljian - Why incorporate a business

Mary Aljian

If you are a business owner, you probably have questions about incorporating small business. Most often business owners ask why incorporate. Many people run their small businesses as sole proprietorships for many years without considering the benefits incurred from taking the steps to incorporate business. However, as tax time comes round, you might be dismayed to see how much of your business income goes to pay taxes for a sole proprietorship. This is when many small business owners begin to consider if incorporation is right for their business.

One big reason why businesses decide to incorporate is that in the United States business law favors corporate interests, giving them rights, privileges and protections that are often no longer available to individuals. This goes back to an early Supreme Court case that had an amendment added to it by a law clerk. The case was Santa Clara Co. vs. Southern Pacific Railroad, and the law clerk essentially wrote his own words into the judge’s opinion. The wording he added caused corporations to be considered as natural human beings, and gave them the same rights as humans under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. This classification has been the entry point for some large businesses to influenced lawmakers to favor legislation that helped them to grow in power and size.

When it comes to incorporating, small business owners know that this legal process allows them to take on some risk without the danger of losing all of their possessions should the business fold. There are benefits that come with all types of incorporation, but they vary depending upon how your business structure is set up.

Many businesses begin as sole proprietorships. This usually means you are doing business under your own name, although you can do business under a fictitious name, the name of your business, as well. A sole proprietorship is not a corporation, and the benefit of this is that you will pay not corporate taxes, but instead you pay taxes on the profits of the business. The bookkeeping involved in a sole proprietorship is usually less complex than might normally be expected for a corporation. Your business profits go directly to the business owner in this model. This business structure is easily formed and dissolved legally, and you have the most control over your business decisions, because you have no one else to answer to - Mary Aljian.

When it comes time to incorporate, business owners usually do so in order to lower the amount of tax they must pay. As a sole proprietor, you may have to pay both the federal tax rate and a self-employment tax, which is in effect double taxation. Many business owners want to learn how to incorporate business structures because they also want limited liability. Sole proprietors can face unlimited liability if their business is sued, and it puts their personal assets at risk.

When considering incorporating, small business owners can select from the LLC, C-corporation, S-corporation, and even non-profit status. When you want to incorporate, business owners should look into each of these formats to see which is right for them.

Transition America

Overcoming the ‘Education Requirements’  by Transition America

Transition America:” It happens every day. A company downsizes or outsources and suddenly, without warning, experienced employees are out on the street looking for new jobs. For many, the transition period will be brief, but for others whose skills do not translate well to paper, the search can be a long, drawn out and sometimes humiliating experience.”

The majority of American workers do not have college educations. Many of them, however, have been risen to positions of responsibility with employers who promoted them into supervisory or management positions as a reward for their performance on the job. These employees should make sure that their resumes reflect those accomplishments. Anytime a job seeker can list quantitative results, promotions, awards and accolades they need to do so, says Transition America, the Nation’s Premier Search Specialist. Actual results that are achieved on the job gives the perspective employer an idea of what the applicant will be able to do for them.

Transition America partners with their clients to help them identify their skills and knowledge and creates a resume that incorporates their on the job training, continuing education as well as other skills learned that their client may have obtained as a result of their own initiative.

 TRANSITION AMERICA:

As a result, not only can they compete with other job seekers who may have a ‘formal education’ but they now ‘stand out’ because of all they have accomplished while on the job.

Continuing education is your chance to show others not just what you know, but how you have taken advantage of learning opportunities on the job to become a more valuable employee, says Transition America.

Show prospective employers that you learned new skills each time you changed jobs and they’ll feel much more comfortable about your ability to learn the job they need you to do. If you turned a mailroom job into a supervisory position, interviewers will give serious thought as to whether or not you can figure out their Total Quality Management program.

Job Search Secrets for Tough Times

According to Transition America, it’s not just what you know that will get you hired- It’s who you know- And — more importantly — who knows you.

Here are 3 job search secrets that can get you hired, even in tough times…
1. Employee Referral Programs — Get an Advocate

“In this economy, a number of companies refuse to interview candidates who aren’t referred by employees,”.

Large corporations use referral programs to encourage employees to submit names of people they know for open positions- This screening process makes sense, since like attracts like — talented employees often have talented friends- And companies are willing to pay $500, $1,000 — and more — to employees who refer new hires.

So it pays to start making friends at big companies you want to work for.

Your Lesson: The best way to learn about employee referral programs is to strike up a relationship with someone at your target company — and ask- A simple email will do- Then, keep in touch- Your contact may end up walking your resume into a hiring manager’s office- You get hired and your “advocate” gets a cash award — win-win!
2. Network from the Inside — Create Your Own Job

From my client files this week comes the story of “Josh” from Toronto, a marketing manager for a multi-national high-tech firm.

At first, Josh did what most job seekers do- He posted his resume online, sent it to recruiters and answered help-wanted ads-

But it was networking — within his own company — that really paid off.

“I used an internal contact in New York City, one thing led to another, and I was over in the US doing 6 job interviews in the last 2 weeks,” says Josh.

His Fortune 500 firm is now creating a new position for him with a generous salary and relocation package- This came after I encouraged him to leave no stone unturned with his current employer.

“I emailed a co-worker and asked if I could use him as a resource for an internal job search- He agreed to help, which led to my interviews- And I already had a good reputation internally, with several VPs to serve as references- That gave me an advantage I would not have had at another company,” says Josh.

3. Become a Power Broker in Your Field

It’s an old maxim: Givers get- And it’s especially true when job hunting.
Now, go out and make your own luck! For information about Transition America, visit us at http://www.americatransition.com/.
